There's a new business opened on Orr's Island. An eclectic, color splashed haven of creative energy, with something for all ages.
This is Hannah, the proud owner of Hatch, a gift shop located on Orr's Island just shortly before the world famous crib stone bridge. Hannah is a local islander born with that magically creative gene we all wish we had, the ability to see a creation in just about any object.
I have had the pleasure of seeing Hannah in action, creating and assisting those who are attempting to create. Beattie Chicks Makery see: beattiechick.com/, is a wonderful art inspired center in Brunswick Maine, that invites young and older ladies to gather and create art. In this world where the arts are being left behind financially, Hannah and her sister in law Leslie offer woman and girls the chance to tap into that powerful part of our brains that force us to see things from a different vantage point.
There are many different classes to choose from and many consist of using found objects for another purpose, recycling something that has served its purpose into a lovely piece of artwork.
Leslie and Hannah are also available for hire if you care to have some ladies over to create crafts in your home, just gather at least 5 friends and contact the Beattie Chicks and voila, a fun home party where everyone is engaged and creating art.
Hannah has created a world of plush softies, these squishy, huggable, take everywhere friends are made from reclaimed cashmere soft sweaters. I personally own a happy little snowman, each year he emerges from the Christmas decorations box he tickles my soul and makes me smile.
So friends, come on down to Orr's Island, take a peek at Hatch, then stroll down to the crib stone bridge. Have some lunch, maybe rent a kayak and paddle on Casco Bay. Summer is here !! Take a big bite out of it !!!!!
thanks for the GREAT plug, Anna! I'm so glad you found Hatch! and Hannah :-)
